A poem about a chance encounter on a train.
— Een gedicht over een toevallige ontmoeting in een trein.
I step onto the train, on my way home, the train is crowded, and after some time, I find a seat, I settle down, and I start to read my book, after reading just a few lines, I have a feeling, that someone is staring at me, after a short while I look up, and I see her, she is sitting on the seat, opposite me, gazing at me intently, with a stare fixed on me, she seems familiar, it's as if she knows me, as I return her gaze, it's as if I know her too, and as we look at one another, it's as if, we try to read each other’s thoughts, after a short while, without saying a word, we break (of) our gaze, and she gets up and disembarks the train, ever since, I have had the strangest feeling I knew who she was, every now and then, I think of her on the train, and wish I had said something, as I will never know now, for sure, who she really was,
