About Neil

Hello, I am Neil and I am an expatriate from London.

I have been residing in The Hague since June 1991.

My first travels to the Netherlands were a few months earlier when I visited Amsterdam, and Friesland, the north-west province of the Netherlands. While in Friesland, I visited Leeuwarden, Dokkum, and the Island of Ameland.

In my first few years in the Netherlands, I did various types of work from building computers to working as a clerk in the European Patent Office to working as a Food & Beverage Supervisor for a Hotel at Schiphol airport and the last 20 years I worked for an international IT company in Amsterdam, my last role as an application developer.

While working for the IT company I had an assignment in Dublin, Ireland for a year.  I also traveled to the US, Canada, and many European countries where I provided education and demonstrated an application that I had developed. I also attended conferences as a speaker.

While living in The Hague I have enthusiastically taken up photography as a hobby and for the last twenty years, I have photographed various events, sports events, architecture, people, and the nature of The Hague.

My photographs of The Hague can be found:

I also kept a photo journal of The Hague for a few years:

I am also in the process of creating a photo website of my travels and busy scanning old film negatives of Lincoln UK, Ireland, the US, and Canada.

As a child, I wrote poetry about nature, as an adult most of my poetry has been inspired by love.

Neil’s Musings will be a personal collection of images, poems, and stories contemplating life, reflecting on the past, thinking about the future, and musing about love.
